Established in terms of the Labour Act [Chapter 28:01] for purposes of promoting industrial relations in the industry. Parties to Employment Council consist of Employer Organisations and Trade Union.
The Employment Council for the Chemicals, Fertilizers, Battery and Plastics Manufacturing Industries is responsible for labour administration in the Employment Council for the Chemicals, Fertilizers, Battery and Plastics Manufacturing Industries. It is creature of the Labour Act [Chapter 28:01] and has the following functions:
  1. Promoting good working relations between employers and employees.
  2. Assisting employer and employee in the industry to in the conclusion of collective bargaining agreements.
  3. Preventing disputes between the employers or employers’ organisations on the one hand and the employees, workers committees or trade unions on the other.
  4. Resolving disputes or settle disputes that have arisen or may arise between employers or employers’ organizations on the one hand and employees, workers committees or trade unions on the other
  5. Ensures that the provisions of any collective bargaining agreement or and any regulations pertaining to the employment relationship is adhered to.
  6. Conducting out training workshops for both employers and employees in order to conscientise them on pertinent labour matters
The Employment Council for the Chemicals, Fertilizers, Battery and Plastics Manufacturing Industries is composed of equal representation of employers’ organisations and trade unions.
The Employment Council for the Chemicals, Fertilizers, Battery and Plastics Manufacturing Industries is neither a trade union nor an employers’ organisation. It is an employment council which protects the interests of both the employers and employees in the industry. It enforces labour laws and regulations applicable to the Employment Council for the Chemicals, Fertilizers, Battery and Plastics Manufacturing Industries
The Employment Council for the Chemicals, Fertilizers, Battery and Plastics Manufacturing Industries is neither a private company nor a government department. We are a statutory body created in terms of the Labour Act [Chapter 28:01]. We are regulated by the Ministry of Public Service, Labour and Social welfare.
The Employment Council for the Chemicals, Fertilizers, Battery and Plastics Manufacturing Industries send invites to the employers Chairpersons of its seven sectors namely the Industrial Chemicals Manufacturers Association, the Pharmaceuticals and Beauty/ Personal Care Manufacturers Association, the Paints and Printing Inks Manufacturers Association, the Fertilizers and Agro-Chemicals Manufacturers Association, the Phosphates and Explosives Manufacturers Association, the Batteries Manufacturers Association and the Plastics Manufacturers Association, to second four negotiators from their members and at the same time send an invite to the Trade Union to second an equal number of employees’ representatives to negotiate
All employers and employees who are operating in Employment Council for the Chemicals, Fertilizers, Battery and Plastics Manufacturing Industries are required to be members of the Employment Council for the Chemicals, Fertilizers, Battery and Plastics Manufacturing Industries.
The Employment Council for the Chemicals, Fertilizers, Battery and Plastics Manufacturing Industries has a fast and simple registration procedure. The Employer submits a registration form together with a memorandum of association and is issued with a registration certificate by Council. The employer is given a bank account number and a return form which is to be submitted to Council together with an employee salary listing report at the end of the month or latest by the 7th of every month.. 1. Chemicals and Fertilizers Manufacturing Industry 2% which is made up of 1% from employees’ salary and another 1% from the employer namely:- a) Industrial Chemicals b) Paints and Printing Inks c) Pharmaceutical and Beauty / Personal Care d) Phosphates and Explosives e) Fertilizers and Agro – Chemicals 2. Battery Manufacturing Industry 2% which is made up of 1% from employees’ salary and another 1% from the employer 3. Plastics Manufacturing Industry 3% which is made up of 1% from employees’ salary and another 1% from the employer.

Payment is made through a bank transfer or cash payment at our offices

The simplest way to get a confirmation of payment is to e-mail a copy of your completed return form, proof of payment and payroll to info@necchemicals.co.zw. We will then reply with a confirmation of payment. Alternatively, you may visit any of our offices to get a confirmation of payment.

The dues that you pay every month allow us to meet the operational costs of the Employment Council for the Chemicals, Fertilizers, Battery and Plastics Manufacturing Industries and to continue providing services of value to you.

No, the contributions are for the purpose of meeting Council expenses

An employee who has a dispute with the employer can report the dispute through an email to info@necchemicals.co.zw or can visit our offices and report
